Star of the South Dental Meeting

The Star of the South Dental Meeting is the #1-rated benefit by members! The 40th annual session will be held March 29-31, 2012 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Active members may take advantage of FREE REGISTRATION by logging onto www.starofthesouth.org and registering online by February 17, 2012. Registration begins in November 2011. The meeting website includes pre-registration information for attendees and exhibitors, a clinician lineup for continuing education courses, a list of exhibiting companies and information on social programs and special events.

Staff & Associate Placement Lists

The Greater Houston Dental Society maintains lists of personnel available for hire. Front Desk, Dental Assistant and Hygienist lists are $27.06, including tax and Associate lists are $37.89, including tax. If you are seeking an associate for your practice, your name and contact information can also be placed on a separate classified listing of available associateships. Peer Review Committee – Mediation

The Peer Review Committee reviews disputes between dentist and patients, and cases involving a third party, such as an insurance company. The Committee evaluates matters related to the quality of treatment performed, appropriateness of care and acts in an advisory capacity regarding fees. The committee is equally responsible to patients, dentists and insurance carriers.

State Board Rule 108.3 relating to consumer information, requires all practicing Texas dentists to display signage notifying patients that complaints concerning dental services can be directed to the State Board. The signage is available on the State Board website: www.tsbde.state.tx.us. The TDA Peer Review Council has developed its own complaint sign to be posted in the same vicinity as the sign from the TSBDE. The posting of the TDA Peer Review signage is completely voluntary. Judicial Committee - Mediation

The Judicial Committee of the Greater Houston Dental Society serves to maintain the highest legal, ethical and moral standards of its members.

The committee functions include:

Mediating Dentist-to-Dentist complaints along with those referred by the Peer Review Committee involving Patient-to-Dentist complaints.
To review all applications for membership as specified in the Bylaws of the Society.
To distribute the TDA Code of Ethics to each dental practictioner.
To further expand Ethics Education programs for dental students.

Texas Assn. of Business & Greater Houston Partnership Memberships

These associations are, respectively, “the voice for Texas Business” and the “primary advocate of Houston's business community dedicated to building regional economic prosperity”.
