Interview with Dr. Bret L. Dyer, D.D.S.

Bret L. Dyer, DDS is periodontist and implantologist in Fort Bend County with over 35 years of experience in the medical field. He is a member dental specialist of the GHDS/TDA/ADA. Here we share an interview with Dr. Dyer as our November spotlight.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DID YOU ATTEND COLLEGE, DENTAL SCHOOL, AND RESIDENCY IF ANY?

‘I am a native of Lamesa, TX.  After spending a lot of time in my father’s dental practice, I decided at a young age that I wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. I graduated with a B.A. in biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Baylor College of Dentistry (Dallas) in 1988.

Much to my chagrin, this Longhorn has his D.D.S. degree from Texas A&M — the university took over Baylor College of Dentistry in the past decade. I then attended the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston where I earned a master’s in periodontics in 1991.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR PRACTICE?

“I think it’s fun helping patients keep a confident smile.”

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MISSION STATEMENT OF HOW YOU PRACTICE DENTISTRY?

“We care for patients the way we would like to be cared for.”

HOW DO YOU BALANCE WORK AND PERSONAL LIFE?

“It is like a marriage. You always have to work at it.”

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU HAVE TO CURRENT DENTAL STUDENTS?

“Remember to be grateful each day for the privilege of caring for our friends and family.”
