Dr. Anthony Zamany, DDS, MSD is a GHDS member and an endodontics practitioner in Houston, TX and has over 25 years of experience in the medical field. Please view the following interview with the GHDS team.

Where are you from and where did you attend dental school, and residency if any
?

I’m from Houston and I got my undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from the University of Utah. I worked as a forensic toxicologist for ten years before attending dental school at The University of Texas Health Science center in San Antonio. I completed my general residency at LSU medical center and finished my endodontic training at The University of Connecticut.

What is your favorite part about your practice?

The most rewarding aspect of my practice lies in alleviating patient’s pain and preserving their natural teeth. It is very satisfying that I can make a tangible difference in someone’s quality of life by ensuring their oral health and comfort.

What would you say is the mission statement of how you practice dentistry?

I understand the fear and anxiety many people experience when it comes to undergoing root canal treatment. I strive to make each dental visit a positive one by explaining the process, dispelling the myths and addressing any concerns they may have.

How do you balance work and personal life?

Let’s face it. I deal with a lot of patients that are anxious every day which can be stressful. I would not be able to do it without a supportive spouse. Life is easier when you have someone who can keep you on your toes and help you to be your best self consistently.

What advice would you have to current dental students?

Seek out mentorship from experienced dental professionals in order to grow professionally. These mentors can offer guidance and support, as well as impactful, constructive feedback which can be instrumental in helping students improve their skills and develop a greater sense of self. They can also serve as role models, demonstrating the qualities and values that are essential to success in dentistry.
