House Bill 300 (HB 300), passed during the 82nd regular session of the Texas Legislature, amends the Texas Medical Privacy Act (TMPA) - Chapter 181 of the Health and Safety Code. The legislation addresses the privacy of protected health care information by establishing guidelines for the storage, transmission and security of protected health care information. Most notable, the legislation requires training by each covered entity for its employees regarding the TMPA and HIPAA. Read More

Give Kids a Smile Day – The GHDS also supports the local community through non-profit events, such as the annual Give Kids a Smile Day. In conjunction with the University of Texas School of Dentistry , the Greater Houston Dental Alliance (GHDA), and San Jose Clinic, together, these partners have provided free dental care and education to over 300 children and adolescents from underserved Greater Houston communities for Give Kids A Smile Day.
Star of the South – Our annual meeting provides access to continuing education, the latest dental products, and information on social programs and special events. We will be celebrating our 43rd year in what has become one of the most talked about meetings in the Greater Houston area. This meeting is open to the public, and we look forward to seeing you on March 27-29, 2014!
Public Outreach on Oral Health via local Media - "The Alani Docs," is a radio show on 740 KTRH Sundays at Noon with GHDS Media Relations Chairman, Dr. Terri Alani and her brother/orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Wayne Alani. Through this show, they educate the public on dental and medical topics as well as new technology in a lively and entertaining manner. The pair have become an informative source for healthcare.
