2024 Star of the South Clinician Hosts and
Room Captains Needed!

We invite you to participate as Clinician Hosts and Room Captains at the Star of the South Dental Meeting on July 26 – 27, 2024.  As a volunteer, you represent the Greater Houston Dental Society (GHDS) and are an important liaison between the GHDS, the speaker and attendees.  All volunteers shall act and dress in a professional manner.   

As a CLINICIAN HOST, you ensure our speakers are well taken care of.  You should:

  • Contact the speaker in advance
  • Plan to meet onsite prior to the presentation
  • Ensure the speaker arrives on time
  • Arrive early to the classroom
  • Make sure the room and audio-visual equipment are set up properly
  • Make general announcements
  • Introduce the speaker
  • Announce the completion code at the end of the presentation

    You must be registered for the meeting to be a CLINICIAN HOST. If you have not already done so, please register here.  
  • For lecture courses you will receive complimentary registration to the course in which you are volunteering and CE credit, do not register for the course you are volunteering for.
  • However, if volunteering for a WORKSHOP OR CERTIFICATION course you must register and pay for the course to receive CE credits


As a ROOM CAPTAIN, you should arrive at the room at least 15 minutes early to check the badges and proper course registration, help attendees find seats, and other general room duties such as AV/lighting/room capacity etc. 

You must be registered for the meeting to be a ROOM CAPTAIN. If you have not already done so, please register here.  

  • For lecture courses you will receive complimentary registration to the course in which you are volunteering and CE credit, do not register for the course you are volunteering for.
  • However, if volunteering for a WORKSHOP OR CERTIFICATION course you must register and pay for the course to receive CE credits. 

REMINDER: All Clinician Host or Room Captain volunteers must be registered to attend the meeting at https://starofthesouth.org/attendee/registration/. 

If you are a GHDS member and register by Friday, June 21, 2024, you are eligible for Early Bird Fees, otherwise, Regular Fees apply.  There will be no deadline extension.

A full recap of your role and expectations as a volunteer will be emailed to you and a meeting will be set up online to answer any questions.
